Tesamorelin before and after

Research information only, not medical advice. In trials, tesamorelin reduced visceral (deep abdominal) fat — a 2025 meta-analysis found a mean reduction of about 28 cm² — along with trunk fat, liver fat and waist circumference, while increasing lean body mass. It did not reduce subcutaneous fat or overall BMI.

The measurable changes with tesamorelin come from randomised trials in HIV-associated lipodystrophy, not personal transformations. In a 2025 meta-analysis of five RCTs (Badran et al.), tesamorelin reduced visceral adipose tissue by about 27.7 cm², trunk fat by 1.18 kg, liver-fat percentage by 4.28 points and waist circumference by 1.61 cm, and increased lean body mass by 1.42 kg — but produced no significant change in subcutaneous fat or BMI. In other words it redistributes fat rather than lowering total body weight. Trial data for an approved indication, reported as evidence, not medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

How much visceral fat does tesamorelin reduce?
A 2025 meta-analysis of five randomised trials found a mean visceral-fat reduction of about 27.7 cm², alongside lower trunk fat, liver fat and waist circumference.
Does tesamorelin cause weight loss?
Not overall weight — in the pooled trials it reduced visceral and trunk fat and raised lean mass, with no significant change in BMI or subcutaneous fat. It redistributes fat rather than lowering scale weight.
